Mohendra Singh was born and brought up in Imphal, Manipur, India in 1936. From schooling in Imphal and Darjeeling he proceeded to college in Bombay in 1952, and thereafter Nainital, a hill station in Uttarakhand to complete his BSc in biology and physics. From here he went on to be awarded his MBBS degree from Agra Medical College.
After training in hospitals in Delhi he returned home to Imphal and worked in the Government Civil Hospital for two years.
In 1966, he travelled to the UK to complete post-graduate studies in medicine with a view to returning to Imphal to run a nursing home being built by his father and eldest brother. However, after meeting future wife Margaret in Gateshead, North East England, he decided to stay in the UK.
And following a period training to be a specialist in various hospitals he joined General Practice in Bradford, West Yorkshire. After many years of General Practice he entered semi-retirement and began research into the existence of God, eventually writing two books. He went on to write further books regarding his own Manipuri ethnicity and on the origins of the Meitei of Manipur, a total of five books to date.
More recently he has become a columnist for a prime daily newspaper in Imphal, writing an article every Sunday for the past eleven years. He has written over 750 articles on different themes He has two children and lives with wife Margaret in Yorkshire. He continues writing articles for the newspaper in Imphal.
